Society of Chemists returns to Berlin for their much-anticipated debut album release show. Classically structured with the brevity of pop, the group has had numerous singles featured on Jazz88 through radio airplay and the station’s “Hot New Local Single” spotlight. Notable live performances include the main stage of the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Icehouse, and Indeed's From Scratch in the Ox music series. Bandleader Stephanie Wieseler describes the group’s sound as “chamber jazz fusion,” expressing the thrill of experimentation and the joy of scientific discovery. Inspiration originates from how Minnesota feels in summertime, the splendor of nature itself, and the affirmation that each season is a wonder.

A wide variety of music—including classical, progressive rock, metal, and jazz—can be heard in Jack Barrett's compositions. Raised in the Twin Cities, Barrett studied in the northern wilderness of St. John's University, where he earned a degree in piano performance. There, he was drawn to the sounds of Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett as he delved further into the sound and practice of jazz. Since then, his path has brought him to the sounds of modern players like Brad Mehldau and Tigran Hamasyan. Intense rhythms, dynamic solos, and rich harmonies dominate Barrett's compositions.

Minneapolis multi-instrumentalist Charlie Bruber—a jazz bassist known for his work with Black Market Brass and Society of Chemists—recently released his second solo album, Prized Burden, a warm yet introspective folk-rock collection drawing from influences including John Martyn and Nick Drake. He also co-operates 8vB Recording Studio alongside JT Bates, Kent Peterson, and Dexter Wolfe while growing his independent record label, Fun One Records.

Ben Ehrlich is a drummer, educator, and composer based in Minneapolis, MN. After studying with Ed Soph and graduating from the University of North Texas in 2018, Ehrlich moved back to his home state and quickly became one of the top-call drummers in the Twin Cities jazz scene. Recognized for his versatility, Ehrlich has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Randy Brecker, Kurt Elling, Diane Schuur, Jens Lindemann, Davina and the Vagabonds, Javier Santiago, the JazzMN Orchestra, Leslie Vincent, and many others, including rock, blues and indie artists from around the country.

Stephanie Wieseler is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer based in Minneapolis. Her recent projects include Heavy Metal Brass Band, JazzMN Orchestra, Explosion Big Band, playing Reed 1 for the national tour of Great Gatsby at the Orpheum, and various other collaborations. She has toured nationally and internationally as a saxophonist with Grammy-winning indie band Bon Iver for their third album, 22, A Million. Wieseler is an alumna of New England Conservatory and the Disneyland All-American College Band. She has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and the Montreux Jazz Festival, among other notable venues and festivals.
