Casey O'Brien | Bass

Casey O'Brien is a dynamic bassist, producer, and composer known for his innovative approach and versatile style. With a rich background in diverse musical collaborations, Casey has established himself as a trailblazer in contemporary music.

Having immersed himself in the vibrant music scene of the Twin Cities for years, playing with local legends Eyedea (Rhymesayers) and Sonny Knight (Secret Stash), O'Brien's recent musical journey has taken him across the globe. From studying, recording, and performing in India, Uganda, Ethiopia, China, and Vietnam, he has now found a creative home in Northern Thailand as an artist in residence at The North Gate Jazz Co-Op.

Renowned for his distinctive yet adaptable style, Casey O'Brien seamlessly navigates a wide range of genres with finesse. His exceptional improvisational skills and unique composition style brings together the storytelling and acoustic instrumentation of folk music, the improvisational and harmonic complexities of jazz, and the sonic experimentation of electronic music.

For tonight's performance, Casey O'Brien will be joined by Ted Godbout on piano and Peter Hennig on drums. The trio will be playing O'Brien's original compositions, showcasing his innovative approach to contemporary music.

Ted Godbout | Piano

Ted Godbout has performed professionally throughout the Midwest and the Northwest. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from St. John's University and his Master's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon. Ted is currently very active as a pianist and keyboardist in the Twin Cities and performs regularly.

Peter Hennig | Drums

Peter Hennig graduated from McNally/Smith College of Music with a degree in percussion performance, followed by two years of private study with Twin Cities-based drummer Dave King. Since 2010, he has performed at several European festivals and venues, including the Sons d'hiver festival in Paris, the Atlantique Jazz festival, and the Pannonica Jazz festival in northern France. In 2011, he received the Twin Cities Best Jazz Award with The Atlantis Quartet.
