Andrew Broder & PEOPLE will be in residence every Sunday in September at Berlin. For the fifth and final installment, vocalist/composer Circuit des Yeux will perform solo; Dave King will join Andrew Broder in a piano/drums duo; and Effygasm will spin amapiano, jazz house, and baile funk. Advance tickets are available for this evening of the residency and this evening only.

Andrew Broder has dedicated the better part of his life to carving out a singular path in music and art. A lifelong resident of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew has done time as a cutting battle DJ, a challenging and thoughtful improviser, a soundtrack composer, a working sideman, a producer, a remixer, a beat-maker, a poet, a beauty creator, a brutal noisemonger, and—above all—a fearless, restless, and provocative songwriter. His work is a study in surprise. As Fog, he redefined the turntable as a compositional tool, and his subsequent contributions to avant hip-hop, rock, jazz, and noise have been equally engaging and envelope-pushing. He has released records on renowned indie labels—such as Ninja Tune, Lex, and Totally Gross National Product—and worked with an incredibly wide ranging cast of artists, including Bon Iver, Poliça, Marijuana Deathsquads, Dua Saleh, FPA, Armand Hammer, Serengeti, The National, and Dave King.

Haley Fohr is a vocalist, composer, and singer-songwriter based in Chicago, IL. Her musical endeavors focus around our human condition, and her 15-year career as Circuit des Yeux has grown into one of America’s most successful efforts to connect the personal to the universal. She is most distinctly identified by her four-octave voice and unique style of 12-string guitar. Her recent works include an original soundtrack for Charles Bryant’s silent film Salomé (1923), commissioned by Opera North; her critically acclaimed 2021 album, -io; and two LPs under the mysterious moniker of Jackie Lynn.

Dave King is a drummer and composer originally from Minneapolis, MN. He is best known as a founding member of the internationally recognized jazz groups The Bad Plus and Happy Apple. He has also recorded and/or toured with many other jazz luminaries and has appeared on over 100 recordings, including seven records as a leader under his own name. He has been prominently featured in many top publications for creative music, including DownBeat, JazzTimes, the New York Times, and the Chicago Tribune. He is currently an adjunct professor at The New School in NYC and has taught at Stanford University, New England Conservatory, Duke University, and many more major institutions around the world.

Effygasm is a dynamic Minneapolis-based Kenyan DJ and video director. With a passion for rhythm and storytelling, Effygasm specializes in blending amapiano, jazz house, baile funk, and Afrobeats, creating sets that resonate with diverse audiences. Known for her unique sound and captivating visuals, Effygasm brings a fresh and engaging energy to every performance.
