Bassist Cody McKinney, guitarist Mike Wolter, and drummer Davu Seru will perform two sets of jazz.
Cody McKinney is a composer, bassist, and sound artist living in Minneapolis.
Davu Seru is gaining an international reputation as a free jazz drummer. He has worked with numerous improvising musicians including Milo Fine, Andrew Lafkas, Jaron Childs, Charles Gillett, Dean Magraw, Jack Wright, Paul Metzger, Elliot Fine, Evan Parker, Rafael Toral, Wendy Ultan, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Stefan Kac, Taylor Ho Bynum, Jim Baker, Robbie Lynn Hunsinger, David Boykin, Dean Granros, Nicole Mitchell, and Harrison Bankhead. Davu appears on the record labels Insides Music, Shih Shih Wu Ai, Emanem, Locust, Roaratorio and Clean Feed.
Upon relocating to the Twin Cities, guitarist and composer Mike Wolter dug into a variety of the local music scenes, often working with musicians from both the preeminent vanguard and the eclectic fringe. He has become one of the area’s most sought-after guitarists and band leaders. In 2021, Wolter’s interest in the intersection of music and social change inspired him to repurpose a sizable grant he received from the St. Paul Arts Board for showcasing his music to include, and bring together, the varied musical acts from around town he admired while also raising several thousand dollars for local nonprofits working to better the community.
