Early Evening Jazz: RAWTWHYLAH & Beck

NO COVER 5:00pm Show

Rawtwhylah (drums) and Beck (bass) have been building their chemistry and brotherhood for many years. Having served as the rhythm section for some of Minneapolis’s top artists and performed in the jazz group Room3, this duo sees all genres as fair game for this improvisation session. What will it sound like this time?

Known to many as the monk of Minneapolis music, Beck is a unique force. Cultivating peace and balance, his music promotes the overcoming of adversity through outward creative expression and inward awareness. This energy shows up in a wide variety of forms, from funky bass lines to fusion head-rush to soothing meditation frequencies.

What if the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Robert Glasper, and Thundercat all fused their sounds into something unique? RAWTWHYLAH (pronounced “rottweiler”) practices the “no rules, anything goes” philosophy that the avant-garde era of music birthed. RAWTWHYLAH’s Caribbean background and his infatuation for all styles of music create a high-energy melting pot experience guaranteed to grab the ear of any musician or anyone with a love for music.
