Carbon Sound invites saxophonist Jovon Williams and his band for a night of jazz. echo (Carbon Sound’s content director, Julian Green) will slow it down with a set of deep house and melodic techno.
echo is a DJ, producer, and cultural organizer based in Minneapolis. As a DJ, he explores genres with Black roots, connecting past, present, and future through energetic and eclectic sets. echo's sets evoke, move, and expand the audience's perception of music. As a cultural organizer, echo founded Carbon Sound—an online music stream and platform dedicated to showcasing the depth and breadth of Black music and its foundational role in the canon of American music—in 2022. He also founded The Vanguard, an online music stream and social media platform highlighting local hip-hop and R&B artists in the Twin Cities, during his time at the University of Minnesota's student-run station Radio K.
Jovon Williams is an up-and-coming legend in the Minnesota music scene. Having collaborated with dozens of artists and bands, Jovon is perhaps the most eclectic saxophonist in the Midwest. Greatly respected by audiences and peers alike, Jovon will cut through you with unbelievable speed, or eat you alive with such a beautiful tone that your skin might fall from your bones. Be careful, the stove is hot—tread lightly so you don't get burned. Williams will feed you a delicious sonic meal that you have never before tasted and may never taste again. He will be joined by Evan Espinoza, Chet Goldsberry-Hill, and Connor Bahauddin.
