Saxophonist Will Aldrich will be joined by pianist Rafi Karpowitz and bassist Callum Schultz for two sets of their original compositions and their arrangements of jazz standards.
Will Aldrich is a Minnesota-based alto saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer currently studying jazz performance at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio. He has played a myriad of shows across the Twin Cities, having opened for Wynton Marsalis at Orchestra Hall, performed multiple times at the Twin Cities Jazz Fest, and appeared at KJ’s Hideaway, MetroNOME Brewery, and Crooners. Will is an alum of Walker West Music Academy, having studied under all its faculty, and he is currently studying with 2024 NEA Jazz Master Gary Bartz at Oberlin Conservatory and with master bass player Gerald Cannon. Will and the rest of the band Roof Access placed first in the 2023 Eau Claire Jazz Festival and have conducted many shows across the Cities. They just finished recording their self-titled debut album, which features originals by Will Aldrich, Ataa Mensah, Rafi Karpowitz, and Callum Schultz.
Callum Schultz is a bassist based in St. Paul, MN. While under the tutelage of such Twin Cities jazz greats as Kevin Washington, Ted Olsen, and Kavy Kaviraj, he began playing bass professionally at the age of 14 and has now played many shows throughout the Cities as a leader, a sideman, and a member of the bands Roof Access and Half Past Midnight.
