White Boy Summer (Thomas Abban & L.A. Buckner)

NO COVER 7:00pm Show

Two of the most talented musicians in the Twin Cities explore the entire spectrum of the African musical diaspora with reckless abandon, inspired by the soul-stirring melodies of Nina Simone and Howlin’ Wolf and the innovative productions of Ye and Lee “Scratch” Perry. L.A. Buckner on drums, Thomas Abban on guitar and vocals.

L.A. Buckner is a performing musician, teaching artist, and producer from the Northside of Minneapolis. He holds a master’s degree in music performance from McNally Smith College of Music and is a community partnership instructor for the MacPhail Center for Music. His artistry is full of energy, excitement, culture and excellence.

Uncompromising, mysterious, ethereal, with an artistic voice all of his own—multi-instrumentalist Thomas Abban is hard to categorize and even harder to ignore. His music balances the accessible with the bewildering. Abban won City Pages’ Picked to Click poll in 2017 and continues to blend rock, blues, soul, and beyond with taste and mysticism.
