Iowa band Wave Cage will bring their fusion of jazz composition and electronic textures to Berlin as part of their fall tour.
Wave Cage combines jazz composition, atmospheric synths, and driving beats to create their own blend of electrified, synth-heavy jazz fusion. Jazz Weekly pronounced them “soulful space cadets,” while the River Cities’ Reader described their sound as "evoking the smooth melodies and diverse textures of early Weather Report; the ambitious, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink arrangements of groups such as Jaga Jazzist; and the more genre-agnostic trip-hop beat decisions of such projects as Thievery Corporation and Zero 7." Wave Cage is Ryan Garmoe on flugelhorn, Nolan Schroeder on sax, Christopher Jensen on drums, and Jarrett Purdy on keys.
The band’s latest album, Even You Can See in the Dark (Shifting Paradigm Records), celebrates how collaboration nurtures creative communities, creates a sense of belonging, and encourages artistic and personal growth. This project was made possible due to support provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council.
