Here is sound from the heart embodying Wonder and Mystery. This band’s musical spirit, rooted in spontaneity, dazzles audiences with sincerity and playfulness.
Steven Hobert’s original music spans a wide vocabulary and spirit from the Americas, West Africa, and the flamenco tradition. His transportive piano playing blends and blurs with lush flute-focused textures and gut-punch grooves spiced with zig-zag explorations. Sirclesound is both sensitive and raw. It is focused on the moment and the spaces between moments. It wishes to swirl into beauty that the mind traffic may dissolve for a bit. Sue Orfield brings a warmth and fun that springs forth from her spirit through the tenor sax; John Croarkin entrances the listener with various flutes; Yohannes Tona (bass) and Toby Ramaswamy (drums) create deep grooves that are imbued with patience and push. Steven's other projects include Oudyano (with renowned Syrian oud player Issam Rafea), the worldbeat-driven ensemble FireFlyForest, and the contemporary jazz group Wall Smashers. He has released three diverse albums: “Ballet,” “Ocean Eyes,” and “Soft Equation.”
