Trumpeter Ella Grace and guitarist Jackson Peters will play two sets of dinner jazz.
Ella Grace is an up-and-coming trumpeter, composer, educator, and producer labeled a “rising star” in the Twin Cities jazz scene. Ella’s musical upbringing began in Minnesota, where she learned under the mentorship of the state’s salient youth jazz ensembles including Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands, Minnesota All-State Jazz Band, and the Dakota Combo. In 2021, Ella moved to Chicago to pursue a degree in jazz studies at DePaul University. Ella now performs throughout the Midwest with several ensembles, including the Ella Grace MNtet. Led by Ella on trumpet, the Ella Grace MNtet is a flexible group that performs Ella’s original compositions in a variety of neo-jazz and jazz fusion styles.
Jackson Peters is a seasoned guitarist. Since picking up the guitar at 7 years old and the electric bass at 10, he has studied with many notable figures, such as Jeff Castleman (Duke Ellington), Bill Carrothers, Casey Palbicki, Steve Peplin, Andrew Wozniak, Solomon Parham, Patty Darling, and Dave Hagedorn. In addition to performing with many award-winning pit orchestras, both in academic and professional settings, he has also performed with other large ensembles, including the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra. When performing locally, Jackson commands a vast range of genres, including jazz, rock, blues, fusion, and improvised music, with some of the Twin Cities’ finest musicians.
