Tap into universal consciousness as RRA electrifies the night with her hypnotic synths and Queen Drea crafts a celestial atmosphere of beats and dubby vocals. Two talented musicians weaving their own spiritual soundscapes amidst the cosmic flow. Timeless and soulful. Unforgettable and otherworldly.
RRA is Sara Abdelaal, an electronic music producer in Minneapolis, MN. She was the bassist and synth player in punk band CLAPS for 12 years before deciding she needed to create sounds that centered her in her Egyptian American culture. She continues to honor the minimal synth style of music she grew to love. “El Atlal” الأطلال is her third solo release and is self released. The album was written by Sara Abdelaal and recorded at Soft Cult Studio. Sara released her first solo EP, “Perfume Of Love,” in 2016 and released her album رقص القم (Moon Dancing) in 2022 on Conservatory Records.
Queen Drea is a sound alchemist, mixing sonic potions laced with looped vocals, jagged rhythms, and found sounds. She has designed sonic worlds for Pillsbury House + Theatre’s productions of What to Send Up, When it Goes Down, and The Great Divide 3&4; Penumbra Theatre’s For Colored Girls… and Spittin Seeds; Children’s Theatre Company’s Locomotion; and dance companies BrotherHood Dance and Ananya Dance Theater. She has created work about depression in the Black community, African creator goddess Mawu, and what life comes From Black Wombs. Queen is a 2022 McKnight Composer Fellow, a 2019 Pillsbury House + Theatre Naked Stages Fellow, a 2019 Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship Finalist, and a 2017 American Composers Forum Emerging Composer awardee.
